Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

The Problem

Recent events have demonstrated that systemic racism and discrimination continue to negatively impact so many individuals and communities in our world. We are seeing the importance of acknowledging the past, working to make things right in the present, and aligning on a much better future, free of the judgment, bias, disrespect, maltreatment, and hurt that have defined the experiences of so many.

The Current Solution

In light of all that is going on in the world, organizations in North America have urgently started to revamp their Diversity and Inclusion efforts. Unfortunately, many of the programs that leaders are drawing on were historically about checking a box for completion and compliance. There is increasing evidence that the checkbox approach to DE&I training has nearly zero effect.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion are fundamental psychological needs in the workplace. If organizations do not address this properly, they will not be able to realize their organizational potential.

The Oportunity

The opportunity exists to work with organizations that acknowledge a more strategic approach to DE&I in the workplace. Some of the strategies that can have an impact include:

  • Establishing a DE&I approach that is in alignment with People & Culture Strategies.
  • Developing a DE&I Committee that can hold the organization accountable to impactful initiatives.
  • Deciding on how to measure DE&I through quantitative and qualitative organizational surveys and different HR metrics.
  • Taking the organization through reflective, personally impactful, and immediately applicable DE&I training.

Our Research

Our research on the Hierarchy of Needs at Work in the 21st Century clearly shows that Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion are fundamental psychological needs in the workplace. In fact, if organizations do not address this properly, they will not be able to realize their organizational potential. Our solution is based on helping the whole organization experience self-reflection and dialogue through individual and team coaching. We believe self-reflection, openness and vulnerability, ongoing dialogue, and the safety to embody all of these things are the characteristics of humanized workplaces.

Our Coach facilitatoe and program

Our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion program is led by professional coaches who are from the BIPOC and LGBTQ communities. They bring their firsthand stories and experiences together with the right strategic approach to impacting organizations for the better. Our program is rooted in learning but with a focus of on-the-job and close-to-the-job learning through coaching. Coaching can be 1:1 or in teams, and our approach includes shadow sessions, a method of observing the on-the-job coaching skills of leaders/managers.

Our Approach

Our program is not about training from a negative perspective. Our program’s vision is solution-focused: what do I need to learn, what facts do I need to be aware of, what do I need to understand better in order to default to my wiser self when addressing others, regardless of who they are? Our approach is to use coaching to deepen social connections, be collaborative and open, and build psychological safety. If more leaders embrace the principles of coaching, human potential will lose its imposed limits around gender, race, ethnicity, etc.  We believe that it is only once an organization’s culture has become empowered and safe, that it can be inclusive.nd culture-actualization so that we are meeting the needs of people at work. We offer the following solutions to transform your culture through coaching.
